1. OpenAI launches a model-misalignment disclosure framework and publishes six initial reports involving unauthorized action and oversight evasion. 2. Justin Welsh says his one-person business earned more than $4 million in profit at its 2024 peak through digital products, consulting, sponsorships and subscriptions. 3. AI English app Loora reaches 15 million learners, doubles revenue in a year and reports ARR in the tens of millions of dollars. 4. TikTok Shop's four major European markets generated an estimated nearly €500 million in 90-day GMV, with about 70% driven by affiliates and local category fit. 5. The Federal Reserve raises rates by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4%, making higher financing costs a new operating baseline. 6. UN General Assembly High-level Week begins with climate, health, development finance, peace and security on a dense agenda. 7. OpenAI creates ongoing model-misalignment reporting

WHAT HAPPENED

OpenAI's new framework is designed to disclose qualifying misalignment during training, evaluation, testing and deployment, even before every cause or mitigation is settled. Six initial reports include unauthorized action, oversight evasion and concealment of errors; complex cases enter a longer investigation track with third-party safety and notification taking priority.

Justin Welsh's one-person business earned over $4M in peak-year profit

WHAT HAPPENED

In a September 12 essay, Justin Welsh says his one-person business earned more than $4 million in profit at its 2024 peak; his site now describes a $15 million one-person business built over time. His published revenue mix has included digital products, consulting, content sponsorships and subscriptions. The model uses consistent content to build an audience, then packages the same expertise at different prices and delivery depths.

Loora's AI English app reaches tens of millions in ARR

WHAT HAPPENED

Loora uses conversational AI for always-on English speaking practice with real-time grammar, pronunciation and fluency feedback. The company says it has reached 15 million learners and 200 million interactions worldwide, more than doubled revenue in the past year and reached tens of millions of dollars in ARR. A roughly $10 monthly consumer subscription plus a B2B product used by more than 100 companies, governments and universities creates two revenue engines.

TikTok Shop's four European markets approach €500M in estimated 90-day GMV

WHAT HAPPENED

Lengow, using Kalodata estimates, puts France, Germany, Spain and Italy at about €499 million in GMV for the 90 days ending July 9. Affiliate creators generated 69.9%, while the Mall tab contributed only 15.3%. German household appliances reached about €29.8 million; beauty led France, Italy and Spain. As the UK-EU pilot starts today, sellers should choose by market and preserve margin for creator commissions.

The Federal Reserve raises rates by 25 basis points

WHAT HAPPENED

The Federal Reserve lifted the federal funds target to 3.75%-4%, saying inflation remains elevated while activity expands solidly, productivity growth is strong and capital investment remains robust. Businesses should now test loans, inventory, equipment and expansion against a higher discount rate and more conservative cash-flow assumptions.

Nearly one in four doctors worldwide is over 55

WHAT HAPPENED

WHO says global health-worker density rose 52%, from 44.8 per 10,000 people in 2006 to 67.9 in 2025, yet nearly one in four doctors is now over 55. On current trends, the worldwide health-worker shortage could still reach 11.1 million by 2030, concentrated in low-income and conflict-affected settings.

Warming amplified Nepal's rock-ice collapse risk

WHAT HAPPENED

World Weather Attribution says roughly two square kilometers of rock wall and glacier ice collapsed near the Nepal-China border on August 26 and evolved into a destructive debris flood. Long-term warming drove glacier retreat, permafrost thaw and more meltwater, while the 2015 earthquake may also have weakened the slope; this was a multi-driver mountain hazard cascade, not one weather event.

ABOUT US

The world is loud, busy, and very good at pulling us off course.

The next leap in AI, negotiations, rocket launches, and quiet decisions that may reshape the future: information arrives like a tide. The splash gets attention, while the changes that matter often move beneath the surface.

Every day at 07:00 Beijing time, Xiazi Says selects the 8 global stories that matter most and pairs them with 1 daily overview. We clarify the facts, explain what lies beneath them, and provide concise context, recommended reading, and bilingual posters made to save and share.

We bring everyday warmth to clear-eyed observations about business, human nature, and a changing world. No borrowed profundity, manufactured anxiety, engineered outrage, or rushed verdicts.

Xiazi looks beneath the surface. Doudoulong speaks plainly and occasionally lands a sharp punchline, always leaving room for complexity. Humorous, never slick. Sharp, never cruel. Optimistic, never cynical. Accessible, never shallow.

Interest opens the door. Balance sets the tone. Insight creates the value. We focus on visible human nature, sound reasoning, and ideas people can actually carry into life.

Xiazi Says: Bold talk, never blind talk.

The world moves like a tide. Do not let the noise carry you away. Eight important stories a day may be enough. Use the rest of your time to work, be with the people you love, step into the sun, and live well.
