African and Caribbean states backed a 19-point slavery reparations plan
The African Union and Caribbean Community backed a unified reparations plan at a meeting in Ghana. It calls for formal apologies from countries involved in the transatlantic slave trade, a global reparations fund, debt relief, return of looted artifacts, climate justice funding and pathways for people of African descent to return and gain citizenship. The plan will be submitted to the next United Nations General Assembly.
