Britain broke its June temperature record as tens of thousands of schools closed across Europe

Southwest Britain reached 36.7 C, setting a new national June record, while Paris reached 40.9 C. About 13,500 schools in France closed or adjusted classes, and more than 1,000 schools in Britain closed fully or partly. The heat also brought drowning risks, outdoor-work restrictions, grid strain, and hospital pressure.
