Japan faced twin tropical storms while heavy rain disrupted parts of Taiwan rail service
Western and southern Japan faced persistent heavy rain as tropical storms Mitag and Haigos approached in sequence. Authorities issued high-level landslide and flood warnings, roughly one million people faced evacuation orders, more than 200 flights were canceled, and some railways and highways were suspended. In Taiwan, heavy rain shut offices and schools in some areas, interrupted a major north-south railway segment, and closed offices in Hsinchu, a key semiconductor hub.
