The United States moved to ban imports of some Chinese-made equipment

The Federal Communications Commission said it would bar imports of equipment from a group of Chinese manufacturers. Washington had already banned approvals for some new telecom and video-surveillance equipment from Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, Dahua, and others in 2022, citing national-security risks. The new import restrictions show U.S.-China technology competition expanding from advanced chips and AI models into communications gear, surveillance hardware, and infrastructure gateways.
