Two Brazilian Amazon theaters join the World Heritage List

UNESCO added Belem's Theatro da Paz and Manaus's Teatro Amazonas to the World Heritage List as a joint property. The late-19th-century theaters combine European influences, local materials and Amazonian symbols, recording the urban ambitions of the rubber-boom era.
