A warming climate is making flash floods and landslides more frequent across the Himalayas

Melting high-mountain ice and extreme rainfall are changing river and slope hazards, and some communities face new floods before recovering from earlier disasters. Governments, relief groups and businesses need operating plans for repeated shocks across backup routes, communications, fuel, medicine, storage and local warning systems.
