Chandra identifies 84 hypersoft X-ray sources

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory used its public archive to identify 84 hypersoft X-ray sources across six galaxies. Most may be linked to binary-star systems, but seven remain unexplained; their very low-energy X-rays and strong ultraviolet output could illuminate questions about supernovas and intergalactic matter.
