NASA orbiter discovers a once-in-a-century new Moon crater
NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter found a new crater larger than the Roman Colosseum during a routine data check. The impact created a roughly four-mile-wide nighttime cold spot as shaken regolith became less able to retain heat. Two Science Advances studies show surface disturbance extending more than 100 kilometers beyond the crater, with implications for rover-wheel interaction.
