Microsoft rebuilds Copilot around Home, Code and Autopilot
Microsoft introduced a rebuilt Copilot on September 25. Home combines Chat and Cowork with live, editable Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Code lets people describe dashboards, apps and automations in natural language and runs them in a sandboxed enterprise tenant. Autopilot gets its own identity, memory, computer and workspace to follow channels, threads and recurring work over time. Home and Code begin in the Frontier program, while Autopilot expands private preview at month-end; none is universally available yet. Everyday AI stays on fixed per-user subscriptions, while long-running agents, frontier models and runtime use usage-based billing. Organizations still need permission, audit, budget and human-review controls.
