Two tankers struck by unidentified projectiles near Hormuz

UK Maritime Trade Operations received two separate reports around October 3. One tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while leaving the Strait of Hormuz, causing a small fire and blackout; hours later another crude-oil tanker reported a strike east of Oman. Public reporting says the second vessel's crew was safe and there was no environmental damage. The incidents come as the US-Iran conflict keeps commercial-shipping risk elevated across the Gulf. Immediate operating variables include war-risk premiums, rerouting or delay, crude and refined-product prices and arrival reliability. Responsibility has not been established, so 'unidentified projectile' must not be converted into a confirmed attribution.
