Yemen training-centre strike kills at least 53

Local authorities in Yemen's Shabwa province say three ballistic missiles struck the Martyr Ahmed Al Sulaymani Training Centre in the Al Alam area on October 19 while new recruits were in morning training, killing at least 53 people and wounding more than 200. The Houthis acknowledged the strike and said they targeted a military facility managed by Saudi personnel; Yemen's government military spokesman and provincial authorities called for stronger air defence and early warning. The attack comes after the collapse this year of the 2022 truce and a government campaign to retake Houthi-held areas, linking Yemen's war to the wider regional conflict.
