iTokri grows international revenue 91% year on year

iTokri sells Indian handicrafts, handlooms, fabrics, jewelry, paintings and other artworks. It connects nearly 10,000 artisans, carries more than 100,000 listings and adds over 500 SKUs a day. Shopify's case study reports that after upgrading operations, international revenue grew 91% year on year, returning customers increased 42% and time spent on administration and sales setup fell 50%. The money mechanism begins with global demand for distinctive crafts unavailable locally. Launchpad automates sales events, while personalized messaging, gift wrapping and multi-address checkout improve conversion and repeat purchase; paying artisans upfront stabilizes supply. Costs and risks are equally concrete: a team of more than 90 must manage a huge non-standard catalog, cross-border fulfillment, inventory, taxes and quality consistency, and international revenue growth does not reveal profit margin. The case shows that cross-border advantage is not only low price; it is organizing fragmented, culturally distinctive supply into a searchable, payable and deliverable product system.
