Passenger lifts cross-border sales share to 40% in two years
A Shopify case study says UK outdoor-apparel brand Passenger grew GMV from about $500,000 to more than $100 million in four years. Cross-border sales were initially below 1% of revenue; two years after adopting Markets they represented 40%. The brand tested roughly ten markets over a few weeks, sometimes launching in under a day, then saw meaningful traction in the United States and Germany and localized language, delivery methods and checkout wording. The profit mechanism is selling the same outdoor range and sustainability story across more markets and seasons while one store unifies inventory, content and reporting. Multi-currency payouts let Passenger retain dollars and euros to pay global suppliers, avoiding a double conversion through sterling. The figures come from a Shopify vendor case and do not disclose profit, returns or ad efficiency. Inventory, size-related returns, international delivery, duties, tax, FX and localization remain key costs and risks.
