GoRails reached a founder-reported $60,000 MRR after seven years as a one-person business
Chris Oliver built GoRails as a continuously updated Ruby on Rails screencast library, now priced at $19 a month or $190 a year for individuals; in a 2021 interview he self-reported reaching $60,000 MRR after seven years while still operating alone. When an early paid course failed, he switched to one free lesson each week, and a third-party Hacker News post produced more than 600 email signups in one day, turning the newsletter into the main acquisition channel. Delivery is leveraged through 650-plus reusable lessons and a community, but the first two years paid him no salary, the library must keep up with Rails, and the $60,000 figure is historical founder disclosure rather than processor verification.
