Reddit will close RSS and public API access

Reddit says RSS support will end on November 13, 2026, while the public Data API closes in stages: new applications end October 31, unregistered or unengaged access begins losing service January 12, 2027, and remaining public access ends in March 2027. The company cites large-scale scraping and automated abuse and requires third-party apps and bots to move to its Developer Platform. More than 14,000 apps and bots have registered. Reddit is offering a $1 million migration program plus technical support and hosting for qualifying projects. Some moderation workflows have alternatives, but RSS subscriptions to communities a user does not moderate will not. The change reduces unlicensed collection surfaces while tightening portability, archiving and room for independent clients.
