The 77th International Astronautical Congress opens in Antalya today

The 77th International Astronautical Congress runs October 5-9 in Antalya, the first time the event is hosted in Türkiye, under the theme 'The World Needs More Space.' Organizers report a record 8,330 abstracts from 108 countries. Of those, 4,619 entered the programme, including 4,077 accepted papers and 542 strong backups across 204 technical sessions. The agenda puts space security, exploration, ethics, constellation governance and sustainable use on one platform while governments, industry and academia seek partnerships. Scale is not an outcome by itself; the evidence to watch is which rules, projects and cross-border collaborations survive after the congress.
