GPT-Rosalind begins commercial pricing today

WHAT HAPPENED

OpenAI previously announced that GPT-Rosalind is available globally to eligible research organizations with governance and safety oversight, with published pricing taking effect on October 5. The series combines GPT-5.5's agentic coding and tool use with life-science work across medicinal chemistry, genomics and wet-lab troubleshooting. In OpenAI's evaluations, GPT-Rosalind scored 27.5% on MedChemBench versus 25.1% for GPT-5.5; on GeneBench it reached 21.6% versus 20.4% while using 31% fewer tokens. The real deployment threshold is not one score but whether controlled access, data security, experimental validation and accountability enter the same institutional workflow.

One-person TrustMRR verifies $48,882 in 30-day revenue

WHAT HAPPENED

TrustMRR is a one-person, bootstrapped B2B business serving SaaS founders, ecommerce operators, agencies and buyers with a payment-verified revenue database and software marketplace. Its profile shows $48,882 in verified 30-day revenue, $24,733 MRR, $366,656 lifetime revenue and 13 active subscriptions. Acquisition spans SEO, word of mouth, X, YouTube, newsletters, content, LinkedIn and Reddit; delivery is fully digital on a Next.js, MongoDB and Stripe stack. The leverage comes from putting trusted data, search demand and transaction intent into one product. The limit: verified revenue is not audited profit, and 13 subscriptions suggest some revenue may be non-recurring marketplace activity.

World Teachers' Day marks 60 years of the teacher-status recommendation

WHAT HAPPENED

World Teachers' Day 2026 on October 5 carries the theme 'Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,' marking six decades since the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. UNESCO says the recommendation is being revised as digital technology, climate change, inclusion, migration and displacement create new pressures on teachers' recognition, policy voice, pay, workload and working environments. UNESCO's education overview also estimates that 44 million more teachers are needed by 2030 for universal primary and secondary education, while 273 million children and youth remain out of school. A global celebration in Paris will focus on protecting and advancing the profession.

The 77th International Astronautical Congress opens in Antalya today

WHAT HAPPENED

The 77th International Astronautical Congress runs October 5-9 in Antalya, the first time the event is hosted in Türkiye, under the theme 'The World Needs More Space.' Organizers report a record 8,330 abstracts from 108 countries. Of those, 4,619 entered the programme, including 4,077 accepted papers and 542 strong backups across 204 technical sessions. The agenda puts space security, exploration, ethics, constellation governance and sustainable use on one platform while governments, industry and academia seek partnerships. Scale is not an outcome by itself; the evidence to watch is which rules, projects and cross-border collaborations survive after the congress.

Noncommunicable diseases now cause 74% of global deaths

WHAT HAPPENED

WHO's latest Global Health Estimates, released October 2, put global life expectancy at 73.3 years in 2023, close to 73.4 in 2019. Healthy life expectancy reached 62.8 years, still 0.4 years below 2019. Noncommunicable diseases caused 74% of global deaths, up from 58% in 2000, and eight of the ten leading causes of death were NCDs. Ischaemic heart disease caused about 9.5 million deaths in 2023. Deaths from Alzheimer's disease and other dementias tripled since 2000, moving dementia from nineteenth to the fifth leading cause globally. The policy challenge is not only longer lives but connecting chronic disease, mental health and data capacity.

OdorNet standardizes smell labels for 9,000 molecules

WHAT HAPPENED

Scientific Data published OdorNet on October 2. The team built a SEA taxonomy from statistical co-occurrence, perfumery expertise and AI-assisted semantic alignment to address inconsistent source labels, redundant synonyms and skewed distributions. The dataset combines academic literature and open databases from 1960-2021 into more than 20,000 entries covering 9,000 unique molecules, organizing messy descriptors into a unified hierarchy. In technical validation, the same baseline model reached a Macro F1 of 0.42 with SEA labels, outperforming commonly used odor datasets and OdorNet without the taxonomy. It creates a foundation for digital odor editing and human-computer interaction, but 0.42 also shows that learning structure-odor relationships remains far from solved.

ABOUT US

The world is loud, busy, and very good at pulling us off course.

The next leap in AI, negotiations, rocket launches, and quiet decisions that may reshape the future: information arrives like a tide. The splash gets attention, while the changes that matter often move beneath the surface.

Every day at 07:00 Beijing time, Xiazi Says selects the 8 global stories that matter most and pairs them with 1 daily overview. We clarify the facts, explain what lies beneath them, and provide concise context, recommended reading, and bilingual posters made to save and share.

We bring everyday warmth to clear-eyed observations about business, human nature, and a changing world. No borrowed profundity, manufactured anxiety, engineered outrage, or rushed verdicts.

Xiazi looks beneath the surface. Doudoulong speaks plainly and occasionally lands a sharp punchline, always leaving room for complexity. Humorous, never slick. Sharp, never cruel. Optimistic, never cynical. Accessible, never shallow.

Interest opens the door. Balance sets the tone. Insight creates the value. We focus on visible human nature, sound reasoning, and ideas people can actually carry into life.

Xiazi Says: Bold talk, never blind talk.

The world moves like a tide. Do not let the noise carry you away. Eight important stories a day may be enough. Use the rest of your time to work, be with the people you love, step into the sun, and live well.
