Today's overview: eight stories, one changing world

1. OpenAI released LifeVal, using a representative survey of 3,995 people to build everyday-task evaluations for childcare, budgeting, shopping and public services, with GPT-6 Astra recording 100% on several end-to-end tasks. 2. Part-time solo operator Voicy sells cross-app dictation for $8.49 a month, with $12,467 MRR and 1,536 active subscriptions verified through Stripe. 3. GETebook.ai uses AI to turn a topic into a publish-ready ebook, with $35,469 in the last 30 days and $141,933 all-time verified through TrustMRR. 4. Supplements brand Obvi used landed pricing, local payments and compliant delivery to lift international revenue share from under 10% to 30%, with an international run rate above $12 million. 5. In a 96-person randomized trial, a low-energy diet plus supervised exercise put 54% of participants with early-onset type 2 diabetes into remission at 24 weeks, versus 4% in usual care. 6. The University of Bath estimates global human metabolic CO2 rose from 1.18 billion tonnes in 1985 to 2.05 billion in 2015, while stressing that exhaled carbon is not fossil-fuel emissions. 7. Researchers found the first molecular evidence of aloe-related compounds in a roughly 2,700-year-old mummy head, but only two of 24 objects were positive, so the practice cannot be called universal. 8. After rescanning the century-old Rhyniognatha microfossil, researchers say it should no longer anchor the oldest-winged-insect claim, potentially moving the flight timeline 80 million years later.

OpenAI released LifeVal to test whether AI can complete real everyday tasks

LifeVal covers caregiving, health, education, household administration, personal finance, shopping and government services. OpenAI reports best-recorded scores of 100% for GPT-6 Astra on tasks such as booking a car inspection and ordering halal groceries. These are controlled evaluations, not a promise of zero real-world errors, so health, money and purchase actions still need human confirmation.

Part-time solo-run Voicy reached $12,467 in Stripe-verified MRR

Voicy lets people dictate into any app on Mac, Windows, Linux, mobile and a Chrome extension, with an $82 annual plan, $260 lifetime license and team pricing. On October 28, 2026 it showed $12,467 MRR, $18,540 in 30-day revenue and $196,491 all-time. The founder reports about 25,000 monthly Google clicks, while iOS contributed only 0.9% of MRR. Profit is undisclosed; transcription cost, lifetime-user usage and solo support remain constraints.

GETebook.ai recorded $35,469 in verified revenue over the last 30 days

GETebook.ai applies generative AI to a deliverable publishing workflow: users choose a topic, audience and tone, then receive an outline, manuscript, cover and multi-format export. Shipped & Paid records TrustMRR-connected payment data of $35,469 in the last 30 days and $141,933 all-time, and lists TikTok as an acquisition channel. Revenue is verified, profit is not; model cost, factual errors, copyright and content sameness remain key risks.

Obvi lifted international revenue share from under 10% to 30%

Obvi serves the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand from its existing US footprint, bringing taxes and duties into checkout while localizing price, payment, marketing and tracking. An OpenBorder vendor case says international reached 30% of total revenue within a year, exceeded a $12 million run rate and produced roughly twice the domestic ROAS. Higher order value, lower traffic cost and transparent landed price drive earnings; supplement labeling, import rules, repeat purchase, logistics and vendor-reported evidence are the main risks.

Diet plus exercise put 54% of early-onset type 2 diabetes participants into remission at 24 weeks

RESET for Remission enrolled 96 adults in Canada and the UK with early-onset type 2 diabetes, obesity, a mean age of 38 and no insulin use. The intervention combined 12 weeks at 800–900 kcal per day with supervised aerobic and resistance training, followed by 12 weeks of weight maintenance; 27/50 entered remission versus 2/46 controls. Temporary constipation, headache, dizziness or fatigue were common, and long-term durability still needs study under professional supervision.

Global human metabolic CO2 was estimated at 2.05 billion tonnes in 2015

The study combined thousands of real-world metabolic measurements from infancy to old age with global population and body-weight data, estimating a rise from 1.18 billion tonnes in 1985 to 2.05 billion in 2015. Exhaled carbon comes from food and mostly belongs to the short cycle recently absorbed by plants, unlike ancient underground carbon released by fossil fuels. The purpose is better urban and global carbon-flow accounting, not asking people to breathe or exercise less.

A roughly 2,700-year-old mummy yielded the first molecular evidence linked to aloe

Researchers examined 24 university and museum objects and found compounds associated with Aloe-derived products in an eighth-century BCE mummified head and an eighteenth-century medicinal specimen. The ancient textual term is still not definitively identified, and the low hit rate means aloe cannot be called a universal embalming recipe. The result shows how modern molecular tools and historical texts can reconnect old collections with material trade, medicine and mummification.

A century-old microfossil could move the origin of flying insects 80 million years later

Rhyniognatha hirsti was found in 1926 as a head fragment under one millimetre long and was reclassified in 2004 as a roughly 410-million-year-old winged insect because of its jaws. A Natural History Museum team digitally sectioned it with laser confocal microscopy and found the joints insufficient to establish either insect or centipede identity. Removing it from evolutionary dating until confirmed could shift the common ancestor of flying insects about 80 million years later.

ABOUT US

The world is loud, busy, and very good at pulling us off course.

A daily look beyond your filter bubble. Explore different fields and perspectives, not just the views you already know. Our global briefing and original sources offer another angle on the world; the judgment remains yours.

The next leap in AI, negotiations, rocket launches, and quiet decisions that may reshape the future: information arrives like a tide. The splash gets attention, while the changes that matter often move beneath the surface.

Every day at 07:00 Beijing time, Xiazi Says selects the 8 global stories that matter most and pairs them with 1 daily overview. We clarify the facts, explain what lies beneath them, and provide concise context, recommended reading, and bilingual posters made to save and share.

We bring everyday warmth to clear-eyed observations about business, human nature, and a changing world. No borrowed profundity, manufactured anxiety, engineered outrage, or rushed verdicts.

Xiazi looks beneath the surface. Doudoulong speaks plainly and occasionally lands a sharp punchline, always leaving room for complexity. Humorous, never slick. Sharp, never cruel. Optimistic, never cynical. Accessible, never shallow.

Interest opens the door. Balance sets the tone. Insight creates the value. We focus on visible human nature, sound reasoning, and ideas people can actually carry into life.

Xiazi Says: Bold talk, never blind talk.

The world moves like a tide. Do not let the noise carry you away. Eight important stories a day may be enough. Use the rest of your time to work, be with the people you love, step into the sun, and live well.
