Kimi K3.1 Pro goes live

Moonshot AI launched Kimi K3.1 Pro and its Highspeed variant on October 23, calling it the first K3.1-series model and its most capable 3T-class system to date. It offers a one-million-token context window and stronger coding, 3D creation, financial research and long-horizon agent performance. Highspeed keeps the same model quality at roughly two to three times the speed. The models are live in Kimi Code and the API, where standard input and output cost $2 and $10 per million tokens; Highspeed costs $4 and $20. The current boundaries are that K3.1 Pro supports thinking mode only and full context depends on membership tier. Official capabilities and benchmarks do not guarantee superiority in every workflow, so teams still need to test quality, latency and cost together.

Solo-run RunRoutes verifies $92 MRR

Dutch developer Tom runs RunRoutes alone in his spare time. A runner enters a distance and the app builds a loop along real streets that starts and ends at the front door, with spoken turns, Apple Watch taps, GPX export and a nine-week beginner plan. TrustMRR verifies $926 lifetime revenue, $92 MRR, 12 active subscriptions and $574 in the last 30 days through an App Store connection. Pricing is EUR4.99 weekly, EUR34.99 yearly or EUR49.99 lifetime. Acquisition comes from app-store optimization, SEO, Product Hunt and social channels, while digital routes and store distribution let one person deliver at scale. Costs and limits include store commissions, map and device maintenance, support, and the possibility that OpenStreetMap paths are private, closed or unsafe. The current subscription sample also remains small.

Kodo verifies $1,573 MRR

Kodo serves independent operators, brands and agencies by turning a prompt into complete presentations, posters, menus and social graphics while keeping text, images and styles as separate editable layers. TrustMRR verifies $10,924 lifetime revenue, $1,573 MRR and 105 active subscriptions through Stripe. Credits map usage to model cost: the free plan includes 30 credits, while paid tiers cost $12, $39 and $99 a month; a poster typically uses five to ten credits and a full presentation 30 to 60. Revenue comes from subscriptions, with SEO, X, LinkedIn and Product Hunt listed as acquisition channels. Editable output is the reason to pay. The constraints are generation cost, design consistency, retention and competition with mature platforms such as Canva; signups and launch attention are not substitutes for verified revenue.

Her lip to grows cross-border sales about 400% in six months

Japanese fashion and lifestyle brand Her lip to increased overseas sales by about 400% in the six months after enabling Shopify's cross-border services. The case also reports 120% GMV growth and a 149% rise in repeat-customer rate when comparing two consecutive 14-month periods. The target expanded from Japan to markets including Taiwan. Acquisition draws on founder influence, content and brand community, while Translate & Adapt localization, local currency and a smoother Shop Pay checkout improve conversion. Revenue comes from direct sales of apparel, beauty and lifestyle goods, with higher repeat purchase raising customer lifetime value. The main costs and risks are inventory, returns, international fulfillment, duties and local compliance. The 400% figure is a relative six-month increase after activation; the case does not disclose absolute overseas sales or profit.

Typhoon Champi leaves 1 dead and 616 injured in Taiwan

Taiwan's Central Emergency Operation Center said Champi had weakened from a typhoon to a tropical storm and moved away on the afternoon of October 24 after causing one death and 616 injuries, with nobody missing. Authorities received 9,027 damage reports nationwide, including 3,287 involving fallen trees, while outer circulation still affected New Taipei, Pingtung, Yilan, Taitung and other areas. Weather officials lifted the land warning in the afternoon and the sea warning that evening as the system moved toward southern Japan. The event shows why a center that does not make landfall can still be dangerous: a large wind field can disrupt power, transport and infrastructure over a wide area. These were evening-stage figures, so repair and injury totals could continue to change.

Combination extends median endometrial-cancer survival by 11.5 months

The global Phase 3 DUO-E trial enrolled 718 patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. Compared with chemotherapy followed by placebo, chemotherapy plus durvalumab followed by maintenance durvalumab and olaparib produced median overall survival of 51.1 months, an 11.5-month extension. At 36 months, 63.4% of patients in that arm were alive versus 52% in the control arm. Researchers also observed benefit among the majority with mismatch-repair-proficient tumors, who historically have fewer effective options, and reported no new safety signals in this analysis. The findings were presented at ESMO 2026 and the study was funded by AstraZeneca. Final overall-survival analysis continues, so this is an important Phase 3 result, not a guaranteed outcome for every patient or an automatic new treatment standard.

Perovskite cell retains 95% efficiency after 1,000 hot-humid hours

A team from the Korea Institute of Energy Research and UNIST developed a catalyze-then-filter process for the short lifetime of regular-architecture perovskite cells. Nickel-oxide powder first promotes the needed reaction in the hole-transport layer and captures lithium ions, then is physically filtered out together with lithium-related byproducts, leaving a solution without residual lithium or volatile additives. Cells made this way retained 95% of initial efficiency after 1,000 hours at 85°C and 85% relative humidity. Power-conversion efficiency reached 25.24%, slightly above the 25.21% achieved with the conventional additive process. The work addresses one durability mechanism in laboratory devices; large modules, years of outdoor operation, manufacturing scale and cost still require validation.

Researchers propose the first candidate detector for mirror life

Researchers at Durham and Strathclyde proposed using circularly polarized luminescence to detect the left-right handedness, or chirality, of life's molecules. Natural proteins, DNA and sugars use fixed orientations, while hypothetical mirror life would use the opposite chirality and could evade existing biological surveillance. The team suggests binding fluorescent molecules to cellular structures and reading whether they emit left- or right-handed polarized light, turning chirality into a measurable signal. The paper appears in Royal Society Open Science and the principle could eventually fit a range of devices. Mirror life does not currently exist and a complete mirror organism may be decades away. This is a preventive candidate method, not a detector already validated on real mirror cells.

ABOUT US

The world is loud, busy, and very good at pulling us off course.

The next leap in AI, negotiations, rocket launches, and quiet decisions that may reshape the future: information arrives like a tide. The splash gets attention, while the changes that matter often move beneath the surface.

Every day at 07:00 Beijing time, Xiazi Says selects the 8 global stories that matter most and pairs them with 1 daily overview. We clarify the facts, explain what lies beneath them, and provide concise context, recommended reading, and bilingual posters made to save and share.

We bring everyday warmth to clear-eyed observations about business, human nature, and a changing world. No borrowed profundity, manufactured anxiety, engineered outrage, or rushed verdicts.

Xiazi looks beneath the surface. Doudoulong speaks plainly and occasionally lands a sharp punchline, always leaving room for complexity. Humorous, never slick. Sharp, never cruel. Optimistic, never cynical. Accessible, never shallow.

Interest opens the door. Balance sets the tone. Insight creates the value. We focus on visible human nature, sound reasoning, and ideas people can actually carry into life.

Xiazi Says: Bold talk, never blind talk.

The world moves like a tide. Do not let the noise carry you away. Eight important stories a day may be enough. Use the rest of your time to work, be with the people you love, step into the sun, and live well.
