Today's overview: eight stories, one changing world

1. MiniMax M3.1 Flash upgrades agentic, coding, computer-use and cybersecurity capability together, with the maker claiming nearly 3x faster online inference and 70% lower agent-task cost. 2. George Georgiadis says he runs Happierleads alone at $1.5 million ARR, selling B2B visitor identification, lead scoring and outreach from $99 a month. 3. Stella used Claude Code and Google AI Studio to turn goal visualization into a subscription app, with its founder reporting about $300,000 MRR and 12,000 paying users in two months. 4. US wellness brand Obvi combined duty-inclusive checkout, local pricing, compliance and marketing to raise international revenue from below 10% to 30% of total and above a $12 million run rate in one year. 5. WHO's first systematic global assessment of NCD inequality shows that income, education, gender, age and residence shape both risk exposure and access to diagnosis and care. 6. The 196 Parties to the biodiversity convention opened COP17 in Yerevan for the first collective review of progress across the Kunming-Montreal framework's 23 targets. 7. NASA used more than two decades of GRACE satellite data to identify 40 terrestrial-water-storage regions strongly associated with irrigation, reservoirs, land-use change and other human activity. 8. Salesforce agreed to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, adding real-time event streaming and BrazeAI to its cross-channel customer-engagement stack.

MiniMax M3.1 Flash officially launches

MiniMax officially updated M3.1 Flash on October 19; Space Bunny, which anonymously processed more than 200 trillion tokens, was an early version. The company says the model delivers a generational improvement across complex agent tasks, coding, computer use and cybersecurity, with online inference nearly three times faster and total usage cost on agentic tasks 70% lower than the previous generation. Published scores include 76.2 on BankerToolBench, 73.7% on DeepSWE v1.1, 82% on CyberGym and 61.7 on OSWorld V2. It supports a one-million-token context plus text, image and video input through MiniMax Code, M Plan and the developer platform. Speed, cost and benchmarks are vendor claims; tool success, stability, safety boundaries and total cost still need independent testing on real workflows.

Happierleads founder reports $1.5M ARR as a solo operator

London founder George Georgiadis says he built Happierleads to $1.5 million ARR without a co-founder, venture funding or a large team. The B2B marketing and sales platform combines anonymous website-visitor identification, verified contacts, AI lead scoring, intent data, email sequencing and CRM connections including HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive. Plans start at $99 a month and annual billing saves 30%. Acquisition runs through founder content, direct demos, agency partnerships and integrations; delivery is software, a data network and automation, while the founder still reads feature requests and handles some support. Revenue and team size are founder-reported rather than payment-provider audited. Privacy compliance, data accuracy, email deliverability, third-party data cost and a solo support bottleneck remain the main limits.

Stella founder reports about $300K MRR in two months

Stella is a mobile self-improvement and visualization app: users enter goals around work, relationships, money or confidence, and AI generates personalized visual content they can revisit. Founder Sarah says she was not a traditional programmer and built the first version in roughly two days with Claude Code and Google AI Studio. Figures attributed to her Starter Story interview put the app at about $300,000 MRR after two months and roughly $350,000-to-$360,000 by the interview, with 12,000 paying users and more than 200,000 downloads. Mobile subscriptions monetize the product, while her large Instagram and TikTok audience supplied distribution and AI reduced prototype and content-production cost. The figures are founder-reported and not independently audited; app-store fees, refunds, renewal, content safety and dependence on personal distribution are key risks, and MRR is not profit.

Obvi raised international revenue to 30% of total in one year

US wellness brand Obvi sells collagen and metabolism products. Orders had arrived from the UK, Canada and Australia, but VAT, import duties, supplement labeling and fulfilment complexity kept international revenue below 10% of total. With OpenBorder, the brand combined duty-inclusive landed pricing, localization, tax and label compliance, tracked fulfilment and performance marketing, while expanding into channels including Amazon International and TikTok Shop. The provider case says international revenue reached 30% of total within one year, exceeded a $12 million annual run rate, became profitable from day one in new markets and delivered roughly twice domestic return on ad spend. The mechanism converts existing demand into orders that can clear checkout, compliance and delivery. Results are vendor- and brand-reported; product margin, returns, regulatory change, ad cost and supply-chain volatility still determine net profit.

WHO makes its first systematic global assessment of NCD inequality

WHO released State of inequality: noncommunicable diseases and their risk factors on October 20, the first systematic global measurement of differences across population groups in four major NCDs and their risks. National data from the past decade show that in low- and middle-income countries, less-educated populations often have higher hypertension and diabetes rates; poorer and less-educated women receive less cervical-cancer screening; and rural residents have less access to hypertension diagnosis, treatment and screening. Gender, age, unemployment, disability and migration status also interact with tobacco, alcohol, obesity, inactivity and air-pollution exposure. The report warns that some countries still lack disaggregated data. The next step is to use inequality monitoring for resource allocation, population-wide intervention and service coverage rather than merely documenting gaps.

COP17 opens the first global biodiversity progress review in Yerevan

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity runs from October 19 to 30 in Yerevan, Armenia, bringing together 196 Parties and representatives from governments, science, Indigenous peoples, youth and business. At the midpoint between the 2022 Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and its 2030 deadline, this is the first collective review of progress across 23 targets, including protecting at least 30% of land and sea, increasing finance and reducing harmful subsidies. The initial stocktake says action is increasing but not at the speed and scale required. Parties will negotiate a Yerevan Pathway intended to turn commitments into measurable national action. The main constraints are the finance gap, uneven national ambition, comparable data and the political cost of subsidy reform.

Satellites identify 40 regions where people alter terrestrial water storage

A NASA-led study combined GRACE and GRACE-FO gravity measurements from April 2002 through November 2025 and mapped long-term terrestrial-water-storage trends at five-to-ten times the spatial detail of previous analyses. It identified 40 regions on every nonpolar continent except Australia where storage change was significantly associated with human activity, including groundwater irrigation, reservoir filling, canals and land-use change. Storage declined with pumping in California's Central Valley, the southern US High Plains, Chihuahua and northern India, while increases appeared in some rainfed African farmland, Brazil's Maranhao state and major Russian reservoirs. The method sacrifices some temporal resolution, and statistical association does not establish one cause everywhere. Next, researchers plan to combine it with monthly products to follow drought and policy effects over time.

Salesforce agrees to acquire Braze for about $5.66B

Salesforce announced a definitive agreement on October 20 to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, with holders of Braze Class A stock receiving $47.50 a share in cash. Braze uses cloud-native event streaming to update customer profiles in real time and coordinate personalized experiences across apps, websites, email, SMS and WhatsApp; BrazeAI optimizes content, offers, channels and timing. Salesforce plans to connect those capabilities with Data 360, Customer 360, Agentforce and SIForce to strengthen real-time consumer marketing. The deal is expected to close in Salesforce's fiscal 2028 and still requires Braze shareholder and regulatory approval. Integration complexity, customer migration, product overlap and whether promised revenue synergies materialize are the main risks.

ABOUT US

The world is loud, busy, and very good at pulling us off course.

The next leap in AI, negotiations, rocket launches, and quiet decisions that may reshape the future: information arrives like a tide. The splash gets attention, while the changes that matter often move beneath the surface.

Every day at 07:00 Beijing time, Xiazi Says selects the 8 global stories that matter most and pairs them with 1 daily overview. We clarify the facts, explain what lies beneath them, and provide concise context, recommended reading, and bilingual posters made to save and share.

We bring everyday warmth to clear-eyed observations about business, human nature, and a changing world. No borrowed profundity, manufactured anxiety, engineered outrage, or rushed verdicts.

Xiazi looks beneath the surface. Doudoulong speaks plainly and occasionally lands a sharp punchline, always leaving room for complexity. Humorous, never slick. Sharp, never cruel. Optimistic, never cynical. Accessible, never shallow.

Interest opens the door. Balance sets the tone. Insight creates the value. We focus on visible human nature, sound reasoning, and ideas people can actually carry into life.

Xiazi Says: Bold talk, never blind talk.

The world moves like a tide. Do not let the noise carry you away. Eight important stories a day may be enough. Use the rest of your time to work, be with the people you love, step into the sun, and live well.
